We held our July club meeting in the club house at the John Nichol’s Field.
President Bill Barlow started the meeting precisely on time at 10:12 a.m. We said the Pledge of Allegiance.
The club meeting was preceded by the 9 a.m. free breakfast prepared by Oscar Gonzales and Bill Barlow. See the attached photo.
Mark Novak gave a treasurer’s report, we have money in the bank. Mike Sandlin said we have just over 30 current paid members.
We had visitors, Jonathan Schmit and Kevin Sevillano both naval reservists who are both interested in flying drones.
Bill Barlow discussed the Directors meeting held on July 29, 2026 at the Sierra Mesa Public Library. He reviewed plans for the future of the club. He asked for volunteers for committees.
Bill Barlow went to the Oshkosh Fly-in. He has photos he will show at a later meeting. He also met with several people regarding the club’s future.
Floyd Fronius showed a video of his sail plane flying at the Torrey Pines glider port. Floyd took a Mike Sandlin inspired Goat 1 sail plane and redesigned it. He took some time to build the plane and just recently flew it at Torrey Pines. The sail plane stalls at about 22 miles an hour and has an empty weight of about 153 pounds.
Mathieu Bertolino is working on the taxi lights on his airplane.
Al Sayder is working on the motor mounts for his plane.
Gene Kendall painted his hanger.
Gene Kendall won $31 in the raffle with $31 going to the club.
